Professional Association of Christian Counsellors & Psychotherapists
A common concern among therapists working with trauma centers on the balance between transforming trauma impacts and possible re-traumatization. Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), an attachment-based experiential humanistic systemic model of therapy, offers a map and a method! Holding an attachment frame, the EFIT therapist has a non-pathologizing way of viewing clients’ distress and a roadmap to health. A tried-and-true set of five simple interventions offers a means of sensitively guiding and pacing clients through the three stage EFIT process, out of the grips of trauma into ongoing growth and resilience.
Using a combination of didactic instruction and real client video footage, combined with clinical commentary, Dr. Campbell will introduce you to this powerful model.
You’ll discover:
The key elements of the attachment perspective and its significance for understanding personality and the potential impacts of trauma
A guide for framing the problem in EFIT and charting and pacing the therapy process
An on-target map for the creation of transformative moments where vulnerabilities are encountered with balance and competence
The simple five move set of interventions -the EFIT Tango - key skills to create change in every session
A path to shape corrective emotional experiences, regulating and organizing inner experience, transforming trauma, and promoting engagement with others
Whether you are a seasoned clinician or new to therapy or to EFT, this training is sure to inspire, and to move you and your clients!
